Burnley boss Vincent Kompany had no qualms about the lengthy delay to check an offside call late on in their 2-1 Premier League loss at Bournemouth, but was incensed by the decision not to review a handball in the final moments of the match 20bet
The Clarets suffered an eighth defeat of the campaign after goals by Antoine Semenyo and Philip Billing cancelled out Charlie Taylor’s sweet strike in the 11th minute 20bet
A controversial moment occurred after 89 minutes when Jay Rodriguez fired into the bottom corner and – although it was immediately ruled out for offside – video assistant referee David Coote at Stockley Park took six minutes to review the incident 20bet
Initially a green line was drawn to signal it was onside before a new line was drawn, which showed red and it was eventually ruled out, but Kompany was left stunned that a supposed handball by Chris Mepham was not checked in the eighth minute of added time 20bet
Mepham and Burnley substitute Sander Berge tangled from a Taylor cross which resulted in Bournemouth goalkeeper Andrei Radu making a close-range save that appeared to be from Berge’s head, but Kompany stated it was actually via Mepham’s hand 20bet
“It’s obvious at this moment in time, I will not have anything other than disappointment,” Kompany said 20bet
“I want to address the first thing for me now which is the last thing that happened in the game 20bet
The handball situation in the box 20bet
“Games get played on a knife edge but I am trying still to wrap my head around what happened in that moment of time 20bet
“We take five to seven minutes to review the offside or not offside 20bet
The line goes green which means goal, the line goes red which means it is not a goal 20bet
“OK, I am a person who always believes in the fact they have taken their time because they want to make the right decision 20bet
And a decision gets given against us 20bet
“Tough one to take but then when the situation happens in the last moment of the game and we don’t take time to review the handball?“There is no call to the referee to delay play when the players have called for it and the staff on the bench, we could see with a wide angle that there was a handball 20bet
“It is the hand that brings the ball down 20bet
And there is no check, no delay for the restart and the ball goes and we lose the game 20bet
I am trying to understand what is happening in that moment 20bet
”Kompany revealed he did speak with referee Sam Barrott after the match 20bet
He added: “Yeah, I think for the first time in my career since I have been a manager I have actually politely and calmly gone to ask for a word of explanation from the officials 20bet
“They were very open with me and they seemed surprise by the fact we would have liked this (handball) to go to VAR, so it means no one from VAR has told them it was worth reviewing 20bet
When you look at it, it is as blatant as it can be 20bet
“I’m fairly confident this one would have taken them 15 seconds (to review) 20bet
”While Kompany was flabbergasted, Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola was able to toast a first Premier League win at the 10th time of asking thanks to Semenyo’s fine solo goal and Billing’s 76th-minute lob from 40 yards 20bet
“Obviously happy, relieved because I think it was a needed victory for us,” Iraola said 20bet
“Probably when you are in this situation everything costs a lot more 20bet
It happened today 20bet
We really deserved to win today but with the last VAR decision of the offside, we had to suffer until the end 20bet
“For sure we all were remembering the Brentford game in stoppage-time and thinking it cannot happen again, because we didn’t deserve – we deserved to win clearly the game 20bet
”On the handball, Iraola admitted: “I haven’t seen it 20bet

On a night that Manchester United desperately needed to win, in part due to their poor standing in Group A of the Champions League and, in part to honour the passing of United legend Sir Bobby Charlton, it fell to two of their most maligned characters to ensure victory at Old Trafford 20bet
A tepid first half left the packed house inside the stadium clamouring for a bit of verve and excitement from the hosts, who seemed low on confidence and motivation 20bet
Chances were few and far 20bet between with Copenhagen coming the closest to scoring as Diogo Goncalves struck the woodwork early on 20bet
The introduction of Christian Eriksen provided a new dimension to United’s play and the Dane was the supplier for the only goal of the match 20bet
A corner was knocked out to him and he whipped a cross perfectly onto the head of Harry Maguire 20bet
The defender, selected for tonight’s game after a sterling performance at the weekend, repaid Erik ten Hag’s faith with a powerful header into the deck, the ball bouncing over Kamil Grabara to send United in front 20bet
That goal should have been enough to clinch victory but a late, late foul from Scott McTominay gifted Copenhagen the chance to equalise 20bet
They were awarded a penalty, Jordan Larsson stepped up, but Andre Onana made the save, leaping to his left and touching the ball wide of the post 20bet
Old Trafford roared in celebration, as did Onana, who made up for his previous mistakes in this competition with a save that could yet keep United in the Champions League 20bet
"I’m just doing my job, the most important thing is to win against a tough team,” Onana said after his match-winning save 20bet
"I am happy for the victory, we did a good game and a big goal from Harry 20bet
"We are Manchester United 20bet
We are a big club, big players 20bet
It’s just a matter of time, now we have to continue like this 20bet
I have no doubt we will make it 20bet
"Onana’s last minute penalty save denied Copenghagen an equaliser (EPA)Maguire spoke about how United were inspired to win as a tribute to Sir Bobby 20bet
“It was one of those nights where it was meant to be,” said Maguire 20bet
“We were meant to win the game, a magnificent save and a win dedicated to Sir Bobby and his family 20bet
"It has been a tough week for us away at Sheffield United and losing someone like Sir Bobby, it affects the cub and the dressing room 20bet
We’re really proud that we could get the win for him tonight 20bet
"Harry Maguire’s second-half header earned United all three points (EPA)The former United captain added that there were still areas of improvement for the team but getting three points on the board was the most important job 20bet
He added: “We have got to be more clinical, we had numerous counter-attacks and we didn’t give them a chance in the second-half 20bet
"The first-half was really poor, it was not perfect but an important win 20bet
This man [Onana] stepped up and it was a massive save 20bet
"The victory sees United move off the bottom of Group A as they jumped above Copenhagen in the table 20bet
With Bayern Munich also defeating Galatasary, the Red Devils are now just one point behind the Turkish side and have a strong chance of reaching the knockouts 20bet
Maguire says that after a difficult year, he is looking forward to helping the team get back to where they belong and is targeting a place in the Champions League last-16 20bet
"It is amazing,” he replied when asked how it feels to have the fans chanting his name 20bet
“When you are not on your game it gets picked up, but I am really proud and pleased how I have acted over this six to 12 months 20bet
"I have been given an opportunity and I want to help the team and get the club back to where it should be 20bet
